So I cloned my disk to his, again ensuring the files could be accessed. Fortunately, his data was fine and I could see the partition. Then the neighbor returned home and had picked up a new PC earlier. Then I downloaded Partition Wizard Bootable CD Free Edition (64bit version) from Partition Wizard's website and got everything back, but it still wouldn't boot. Fortunately the neighbor was out of town while I did all this including giving me the computer a few days before he left.
I cloned it again and tried a few other things and researching.
But was the data was still there?Īfter using EaseUS's Disk Copy to clone the drive, I put my disk in there and recreated a partition and tried disk rescue. Knoppix's and Linux Mint's gparted said the primary and secondary GPT tables were corrupt. Win 7's Disk Management asked if I wanted to format. I pulled the hard drive and put it into a multibooting second computer (Win 7, 8.1, 10, Linux Mint, Zorin, Fedora, and Ubuntu via grub). I had him bring it over and tried the same things. So when a neighbor said he couldn't boot his Dell computer, sending a text with a pic with a menu displaying, I gave him a few things to try.
